Dover-Sherborn High School is creating a Hall of Distinguished Service to honor any person in the Dover-Sherborn High School community who has distinguished her/himself in service to humanity. It is hoped that the honoree will inspire current and former Dover-Sherborn students to work for a better and more humane world.

The committee members considered for nomination individuals who have made distinguished contributions to the local, state, national, or international community and who have had outstanding careers in health care, community service, culture and performing arts, journalism, scientific research, politics, social sciences, and education. The nominees must have been away from Dover-Sherborn High School for at least ten years.
Recipients of the award will demonstrate exemplary character and serve as role models to Dover-Sherborn students. They will be honored at an assembly and will be invited to individual classes to interact with students on a personal level.
2019 DSHDS INDUCTION Assembly
Tuesday, April 9th at 8:40 am, Day 3, 2nd period, D block
The inductees for this first induction are listed below and include 2 former DS faculty members and 2 DS graduates. They will each be speaking during the assembly and then for the remaining periods of the day will be invited as guests into classes. If you would like any of these nominees to come to a class during 3rd, 4th or 6th period (5th period is possible, but time allowed for lunch) please email Janae Barrett.
2019 Inductees
Charlie Sennott, a DS graduate class of 1980, is a world-renowned journalist. He was chief journalist for the Middle East for the Boston Globe. He is on WGBH weekly discussing global issues. Charlie seeks to train journalists to seek truth and justice. (nominated by Becky Vizulis)
Hilary Binder, a DS graduate class of 1982, is a world humanitarian. She has helped the poor, immigrants and refugees in many nations. She devoted her entire life to humanitarian work. (nominated by Becky Vizulis)
Diane Kottmyer, a former Latin teacher at DS, is a famous prosecutor who was able to get 5 members of the Boston mafia including its leader convicted high crimes. Diane became a superior court judge and presided over many well known cases. (nominated by Bill Davis and Lorraine Witzburg)
Lou Dittami, a former science teacher and track coach at DS, is a great humanitarian. As a teacher and supervisor of Student Council, he organized the blood drives, organized volunteers to serve food to the poor in Boston, and organized students giving toys to Globe Santa. Lou has also given blood platelets over 600 times. (nominated by Anne Picardo)

You may, for example, wish to think of those who have had outstanding careers in health care, community service, culture and performing arts, journalism, scientific research, politics, social sciences, and education. The individual you nominate must have been away from Dover-Sherborn High School for at least ten years.
