Gayle Murphy, whose second three-year term on the Sherborn School Committee
is ending, has announced that she will not be seeking re-election opening
up a seat on that board.
Gayle has been a tremendous asset to the Sherborn schools in her role on
the School Committee and also as a member and chairperson of the Pine Hill
Building Committee. As an outspoken advocate for school initiatives,
Gayle has also managed to keep a balance between the needs of the school
and the big picture needs of the town. The loss of Gayle’s enthusiasm,
knowledge and camaraderie to her fellow committee members will be felt
deeply. We wish Gayle great luck in her future endeavors and fully expect
that she will stay active and effective in other areas of our community.
I would like to recommend that anyone interested in pursuing the open seat
on school committee contact me, or any other member of the Sherborn School
Committee for information. Potential candidates will need to be nominated
at Town Caucus in Sherborn which is scheduled for March 5, 2008 at 8:00
p.m. at the Sherborn Community Center.
