  • What responsibility, if any, does the world have in aiding the nations of Africa?

 

Learning Objectives:

  • Locate Africa’s countries, major cities, and physical features.
  • Describe the climate and vegetation regions of Africa and their unique pattern.
  • Identify the five major physical regions of Africa and the characteristics of each.
  • Analyze the relationship between climate/landforms, GNP, and hunger in Africa.
  • Identify causes for the shortage of water in Africa and evaluate possible solutions.
  • Evaluate the causes of European colonization and its effects on Africa.
  • Analyze and evaluate the effects of Africa’s efforts to modernize.
  • Identify Africa’s major exports and evaluate the common over-dependence on one product.
  • Analyze the causes and effects of desertification.
  • Analyze and evaluate the effects of apartheid on South Africa.
  • Identify key elements of African culture (proverbs/oral history, music, dance, foods).
