The Dover Sherborn Public Schools are committed to providing ongoing professional development for faculty, staff, and administrators on all facets of teaching and learning, as well as operations management.
Evidence of the school committees' committment to quality, ongoing professional development is the fact that a considerable amount of time is dedicated to professional development in the form of early release and full PD days throughout the school year.
The Professional Development Committee prepared a robust professional development day for all Dover Sherborn personnel for Monday, November 29, 2010. As you know, that is our full professional development day this year.
We thank all of the session facilitators, especially those from within the Dover Sherborn Public Schools, who graciously agreed to facilitate a session. The Catalog of Offerings, also found on the publications and downloads link, details the 44 sessions offered on November 29th.
The day was structured in four 90-minute sessions, with two sessions in the morning, a common 45-minute lunch from 11:30-12:15, and two afternoon sessions. For the purpose of session definition, AM 1 ran from 8:15-9:45, AM 2 ran from 10:00-11:30, PM 1 ran from 12:15-1:45, and PM 2 ran from 2:00-3:30. The day began with a continental breakfast at Lindquist Commons from 7:30-8:15, at which time the first session began.
On November 30, 2009, Dover Sherborn faculty and staff enjoyed another day of rich offerings. Please view the agenda to see the array of rich opportunities afforded to all DS personnel. The morning featured keynote speaker Dr. Willard Daggett of the International Center for Leadership in Education. Dr. Daggett presented on Preparing High Performing Students for the 21st Century. The session was organized around a PowerPoint presentation highlighting many facts and examples of the importance of 21st century skill infusion in American students. Faculty, staff, and administrators then had the opportunity to select sessions to attend in the afternoon as a means of extending Dr. Daggett's message from the morning.
Moreover, the PD Committee now offers a summer institute series. Please review the DS Public Schools Summer Institutes 2010 Catalog and the DS Public Schools Summer Institutes 2011 Catalog for more information.
