DI incorporates brainstorming, spontaneous problem resolution and long term project management to solve a particular challenge within a specified time and budget. Students in teams of 5-7 design and create all technical devices, artistic elements, and storylines necessary to bring their solution to life. Solutions are presented at a regional competition held in March. The Special Education Parent’s Advisory Council SEPAC is having our first meeting on September 22, 2011 at 8:45 in the Chickering Conference room. All are welcome. The SEPAC is made up of Dover and Sherborn parents who meet on a frequent basis, throughout the school year, to share experiences, listen to lectures, and plan for up-coming events. This is a group that supports one another through both the wonderful and challenging moments when raising a child with unique educational needs. Through our strong collaboration with the Special Education Department we are provided the opportunity to continually educate ourselves, and others, about children with disabilities and how to properly educate and parent them. If you are a family that is concerned about your child but hasn’t started the process through special education, we can provide advice on how to navigate the process, as well as information about initial testing and what to expect at your first IEP meeting. If you are a family of a child already on an IEP, 504, early intervention or just an interested party in the Dover Sherborn districts you are welcome to join this group. If you would like to learn more or would simply like to be on our email list, please contact Page Kolligian at pkolligian@verizon.net.
