MISSION
The mission of Dover-Sherborn Community Education is to provide programs to
enrich the lives of everyone in our community. We hope to create life-long
learners through a community/school partnership, offering interesting, thought
provoking and stimulating classes and programs at a reasonable cost.
Dover-Sherborn Community Education is a self-sustaining department of the
Dover-Sherborn Regional School district.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION PROGRAMS
Dover Sherborn Child
Development Center: Established in September, 1986, the CDC provides a
wonderful learning environment for children ages 2-5, from Dover, Sherborn and
surrounding towns. It is housed in the Caryl School building in Dover. The
Center is open from 7:15AM-6:00PM, Monday through Friday, September through
June. For information call 508-785-1835.
Extended Day-Chickering
School, Dover and Pine Hill School, Sherborn: Elementary school students in
both towns have the opportunity to attend these fee-based programs after school.
They provide a safe and stimulating environment from dismissal time to 6:00PM,
Monday through Friday. In Sherborn there is an early morning program as well
from 7-8:30AM. The children have made these programs their “neighborhood” where
they can play with other children of all ages, both indoors and outdoors. They
do art projects and service projects and get at least one hour of homework
completed each day. The students have access to the library and school
computers.
Registration is required for all
programs. Registration packets are available in March for the following school
year. Registration is limited. We do maintain waiting lists for these programs.
After School Enrichment:
Classes for elementary school students are held at both Chickering School and
Pine Hill School. They begin immediately after school and usually run for an
hour. Some of our programs include sports, dance and science. The flyers for
these programs are distributed through the schools and are sent home with the
students. They also are listed on this website along with an application form.
We accept Master Card and Visa as payment for these courses. Registration is
limited.
Adult Enrichment: We offer
a wide variety of innovative and intriguing classes, sure to peak the
interest and curiosity of our community. From cooking classes including sessions
at local restaurants with renowned chefs, to sophisticated crafts, to fitness,
to CPR training, to dog obedience, we have great opportunities for expended
learning right near home. We also offer Driver’s Education and SAT Prep courses
to high school students, as well as College Search and Financial Aid seminars.
Course listings can be found on the website. If you’d like a brochure, call us
at 508-785-0722. |
