COMMUNITY EDUCATION PROGRAMS
For more information about all
our programs please call the office at 508-785-0722.
Extended Day Programs:
Dover and Sherborn elementary students have the opportunity to attend these
excellent, fee-based, after-school programs at Chickering School and Pine Hill
School. The Dover Extended Day Program provides a safe and stimulating
after school environment from dismissal until 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Over 90 children have made this their “neighborhood” where they can play with
children of all ages, go outside, have a light snack and play cards, games, do
art projects and service projects. They also get at least one hour of homework
completed and have access to the library and school computers. The Sherborn
Extended Day Program serves over 90 children and in addition to operating
Monday through Friday from dismissal until 6:00 pm there is an early Morning
Drop-In Club from 7:00 am until school begins. Registration is required for
attendance at the EMC. Both extended day programs offer a warm and nurturing
atmosphere where children can explore a unique blend of interesting activities
with children of all ages.
Dover-Sherborn Child
Development Center: Established in September of 1986, the CDC provides
quality early childhood education to 144 preschool children from 2 years of age
through 5 years of age. There are five age-appropriate classrooms at the Caryl
School Building, 4 Springdale Avenue in Dover. The CDC is open from 7:15 am
until 6:00 pm five days a week. Our very experienced and nurturing staff of 15
early childhood educators provides a warm and caring atmosphere for learning
about the world. Specialists in music, movement and drama add variety and
interest to this wonderful educational program. For information call
508-785-1835.
After-School Enrichment:
Our three after-school enrichment programs offer various classes, i.e. karate,
art, French and Spanish, knitting, chess, fencing, craft classes, and much more
at Pine Hill School for Sherborn students, at Chickering School for Dover
students and at the Dover-Sherborn Regional Middle School for those students.
Registration information goes home with the students in their backpacks the
first week of school in September and the first week in January.
Continuing Education - Evening
Classes: Brochures arrive at the homes of all Dover, Sherborn and Medfield
residents the first week in September and the first week in January. Our
Cooking Studio is second to none and our fitness classes, Yoga, NIA and Pilates
all enjoy a loyal following. There are inexpensive trips to NYC for early
holiday shopping as well as how to fund your child’s college education. We even
have a dog trainer to help Fido learn his limits. Our Parent-Child activities
such as sailing on a tall ship in Boston Harbor and our Bronx Zoo Holiday trip
as well as parent/child cooking classes offer something for everyone!
Registration for all
student and continuing education classes begins upon receipt of the brochures.
Extended Day registration is held concurrently with kindergarten orientation in
early spring and throughout the year, as space is available. Child Development
Center registration is held in December for returning families and in January
for new families. Questions about any of our programs can be directed to the
Community Education office at 508-785-0722. |
